Turning Points: CSR at a Crossroads Summit – Preparing for Changes Ahead

by

Recently, I had a chance to talk to my friend and colleague, Jess Welser, Director of B:Civic in Colorado. Revere Software is an investor in B:Civic because I believe in their work.

I asked Jess to explain B:Civic’s mission and talk about the 7th Annual Summit coming up on November 2, 2022, in Denver.

B:Civic empowers people and organizations, like Revere Software, to build stronger communities. We create connections, share expertise, and inspire action around corporate social responsibility (CSR). Any business can grow a successful CSR program regardless of size or budget. This conference connects people to the information they need.

Firsthand, I’ve seen B:Civic growing and gaining investors, not just in Colorado or even in the United States, but worldwide. Jess told me more about their astounding growth.

Since 2014, B:Civic has been growing an ecosystem here in the Denver metro area. We help companies become better equipped to address community and social issues critical to our area.

“B:Civic sponsored the first annual Summit to discuss all things CSR in 2014 with 150 attendees. Last year, 400 people attended, including marketing professionals, community leaders, and HR department heads,” Jess explained.

The theme of the 2022 Summit is Turning Points: CSR at a Crossroads. I think we all can see the changes occurring in the CSR field. Now there are issues of compliance that we didn’t see ten years ago. I asked Jess to describe how this year’s Summit will discuss some of these issues.

“Attendees will hear about the best practices to help them align their CSR policies with core business functions. We’ll cover the whole alphabet soup; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), environmental, social governance (ESG), and HR,” she said.

Sounds great. And the price for this summit is super-affordable.

It sure is. And this year, we’re pleased to be meeting in person, or attendees can choose to log in virtually. All attendees will get full access to all the recordings and resources, including two keynote speeches with top inspirational leaders. If you come in person, the cost is $250.00 and includes the Welcome Happy Hour on Tuesday, Nov 1. Virtual attendance is $200.00.

Jess leaned forward and added, “CSR practitioners from a range of businesses and approaches create this conference. It’s truly the Best of the Best!”
So, tell us one more time, why should everyone attend the Summit?

There has been much pressure in the CSR field over the last two years. And over the previous ten years, everything has changed. Seven in ten employees now expect social impact opportunities in the workplace. Companies are expected to have a disaster response policy. It’s not optional anymore—a company must live up to its values.

Leaders have been doing a phenomenal job, but now they have to make critical decisions, including which way does our company go? Which path do we take moving forward? What is the right direction for our company?

Here at the Summit, you’ll have a chance to discuss these issues and much more.

And I’ll add, if you’re young and just starting your career; there’s plenty of room in this space. The field is growing, and this is your chance to get involved. So come in person and experience the autumn beauty of Colorado. Or attend virtually if you can’t get away. But don’t miss this event.

Again, this full-day conference, created for and by CSR industry professionals, will focus on the crossroads that CSR is at and prepare you for the changes ahead.
